Service Column Lock

I received the "Service Column Lock" message just today. Luckily for me, the lock is in the disengaged position so I can still drive my car.

However, I checked codes and there were none. Shouldn't there at least be a code in the BCM about the column lock being broken?

BTW: It goes to the dealer on Monday.

singledad -- will do the best I can with the language difference and all.

I went to the dealer today. Good news-bad news situation. Good news: he has column lock kits in stock and will replace mine. Bad news: the corvette mechanic is on vacation for the next two weeks. I take my car in on 18 Aug for the repair.

I'll have more for you then.

Its BACK!

Doesnt this sound familiar. I was washing and waxing my car (AGAIN!) when it looked as though it was soon going to rain. I got in my car and turned the key. The steering column locked and i thought S**T! I called my dealer the same dealer that fixed it last time and told them that the same thing was happening. They are sending their flatbed over tommorow morning at 8:30 to pick it up they said i should have it back tommorow. SO im without a car. My 66 had an accident:cry!

SHed some light

JUst got a call from my chevy dealer. My motor for my steering column needs to be replaced its going to be 480 dollars. WHAT THE F**K is up with this S**T THE CAR HAS 10,000 MILES ON IT THIS IS COMPLETE BS! IVE ALREADY SPENT 150 DOLLARS TO HAVE IT FIXED ONCE IM SO SICK OF THIS STUPID STEERING COLUMN! WHY THE HELL IS MY STEERING COLUMN MOTOR GOING AT 10,000 MILES!

My car is at the dealship now. It was stuck in a parking ramp for 2 days before roadside assistance sent the right truck out.

They are replacing the same part that they replaced under the recall, but they want to charge me $371. The recall work was completed before I bought the car. I've called GM and I am getting the complete run around! Argh.

I got my car serviced under warranty today for the column lock. I was told a wire was broken on it. It works like a champ now. Hopefully, it won't break on me again.
