I got a warning which said Service Traction Control system and reduced engine power. The car will go about 15 mph with no power. The DIC codes are PCM P1518 h and TCS is C1278 h. Anyone have a clue what these are or what is wrong.

HELP!!

HI there,
Your P1518 is what is causing your C1278. So, please disregard the C1278.
As for the P1518, this is telling us that the throttle control module is not communicating with the engine control module.
There were a few updated pieces inside the TAC control modules, that could help your situation.
If I was a betting man, I would say that if you replace the TAC module, you should be ok.

c4C5, I restarted the car after about an hour and the check engine light was out and it appeared to have power again. I did not get a chance to drive it last night. Is it safe to drive it or will the problem continue to occur until I change out the module? I saw in past threads where it should be simple to change out the module. I am fairly comfortable with working on the car but I want to be sure that replacing it is something I can do after I pick up the part.

Thanks for your help always.

Sure, very easy to do.
2 7mm bolts once you remove the inner fender on the passenger side.
JUST MAKE SURE YOU DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE, before you attempt this module change.

I had been washing under the car that morning when this occurred, do you think I might have got a connector or ground wet which could have caused this error? I hate to be such a pain but this problem has me worried due to this maybe occurring in traffic later. The car ran like a champ today. No service engine light or any other problems. I am going to order the TAC module tomorrow as a preventive measure.

Thanks for your help always.

HI there,
It is possible, but you would have had to really soak down a connector to make this happen.
The wiring only goes from the PCM to the TAC module.
