Service Vehicle Soon Message Question

I have been driving this 1997 for the last two summers and have really enjoyed the ride. This past summer I ran into the locking steering column problem and some other annoying and expensive service fun.

Prior to my last trip to the Chevy dealer, I got the a "Service Vehicle Soon" message... and now it's back! I'm guessing that this is not a real error message, but a mileage milestone reminder to bring my wallet back to the dealership for a bit more bleeding... Does anyone know how to clear this message? I already have reset the suite of message codes.

Any ideas out there?

Jim

Thanks for the suggestions... I'll give the GM dealer one more try

Will either of those messages pop up when the oil needs to be changed? I've had those messages a number of times over the last few years, and every time I take it to the dealer, they say they can't find anything wrong.

The last time I took it to the dealer, they said the message was because my oil life meter was down below 20%. I don't really believe them because there's a separate message when your oil life is old that specifically says it's time to change your oil.

HI there,
Service vehicle soon, is usually for ONLY a computer fault within the system.
This will have NO bearing from the oil life monitor, which will only show a 'Change oil soon' message.
The next time that this occurs, I would check for codes in ALL control modules.
