Hi, I just discovered this forum and it is a veritable pleathora of good info. Therefore, I have a couple of questions for you.
First, I have an 84 Coupe. Is there a shop manual that I can purchase for the L-83? I have the Haynes. However, MR. Haynes chose to focus on the 85-96 models and only included limited info on the 84. The Chiltons is about the same. Is the L-83 in the 82 model the same as the L83 in the 84 model?
My vehicle has an anoying stutter between 1400 and 1800 RPMs.
This occurs when I am running around 45mph. When I give it more throttle and the RPMs jump, the stutter goes away. If I let back off of the gas and return to the aformentioned parameters, it comes back. I do not get this same effect when my speed is above 50 or below 45 except when I am on a steep incline and I touch the gas to maintain my speed. This has occured at around 35mph. Once again, If I stomp on the gas and cause the RPM's to jump up, the stutter or miss, heck sometimes it feels like the engine is vibrating the whole car, goes away. I replaced the Ignition Module last summer. Several months after this my ECM threw a code 42 which my Haynes manual (its good for something) says that this is a fault in the EST. The code went away shortly after flashing and has not come back. I have not unhooked my battery and so the code is still stored. Anybody have any suggestions? Well I guess that I will reserve the rest of the questions for later. Sorry about the length. I just hope it was detailed enough to give someone an idea.

First off, welcome to the cac. Secondly, and (I think) I speak for Ken on this, anybody who uses the words plethora and aforementioned parameters in one post deserves the utmost in consideration. :)

:L You got it Len! Admirable, very admirable. Now, I can only hope that Joey is one of our younger members; my heart would be joyful that the language is not dead (yet). ;LOL

Welcome to the club Joey! :CAC

Thank you Gentlemen. I shall try E-bay and patiently await an answer to my other question.

Sorry, I neglected to answer some of your questions. :duh

I don't know.

Good question. I think it is one and the same.

Sorry, I'm going to allow someone else to take it; I haven't an answer for you there either. :(

Thanks Ken,
Maybe the Haynes manual for the 82 model will be better suited to my needs with respect to details about the engine.

Go get the correct manual for the 84...it has an adequate section on the engine. However, it has an excellent section on the emissions control and the crossfire. Make sure you get the electrical supplement with it.
