Help! Shacking on acceleration!

Hey fellow Vette heads,

My 1980 has recently exposed another issue I have never run across. It is shacking on acceleration like bump, bump, bump! mutilple times until I let off of the gas. Im guessing a trans mount or motor mount. Wanted to check here first before I haul it off to my mechanic and pay the big bucks to have him look at it. Does any one have any idea what this vibration is?

Need more info! It could be anything from worn out shock absorbers to... well... pretty much anything!!

What area of the vehicle does the shaking come from? Is there any unusual sounds that only happen when it's shaking? Does the tranny shift smoothly? When was the last time the vehicle had a wheel alignment?

could be from almost anything ....
A little more detail on it please...
