Have had my 96 Collectors edition about 2 weeks. Did not get a whole lot of info re mods made or what was OEM. Can anyone tell me how to find out if i have factory upgraded shocks /suspension or if previous owner made suspension mods. Would really like to know what I am dealing with especially if i need to make mods or want to. Thanks

I'm assuming that you do not have the asjustable suspension switch on the console behind the shifter. That would indicate the F45 real time dampening system.

Then, look under the rear storage compartment lid for the RPO list and see if it has Z51 listed. If you don't see Z51 there (or F45) it should be a base suspension car.

After that, you'll have to check out the installed shocks and see what's there.

As for springs and roll bar changes, you'll need to look at part numbers and take measurements.

your are correct no real time dampening. Storage compartment behind passenger seat? Thanks Bruce

Yep, the one behind the passenger seat. There should be a sticker on the bottom of the lid.

Bilstien's are standard equipment.

BTW, do you have 275/40's on all four corners? With the 9.5" wheels? The Z51 came with the same tire/wheel all around. 275/40/17 on 17x9.5. If you have 255/45 front and 285/40 rear, then you are definitely a base suspension car. Should have mentioned that first.

question answered

Have 255's front 285's rear so I its base. Thanks for the help did not even have to look at storage door but i will as soon as get home to see what is there. Wow really fun just finding out what I have. But will be greater fun as soon as I get inspected and get tags on same. :cool

I had a 96 CE Z51 for a few years. It's a real nice car. Mine had the gray interior. Sold it to buy the 03 AE vert. Would have been nice to keep it but I couldn't see having 3 Vettes and I'm not selling the ol 92 - it's my first Vette.
