Ok, could my problem be the lockout torque converter. One of the guys I work with says that happens on other cars but does not know if that is the problem with the Vette. Just to refresh everyone. I had the Opti-spark, water pump and new plug wires replaced this week. I have a shuddering at approximately 59-63 mph and anywhere beyond that if I accelerate a certain way. Meaning not really hard but not gradually if that makes any sense.
Sooo if anyone else has had a similar situation, I would really appreciate any help. I'm not going to repair the problem until probably March of next year, but would like to know what I'm in for.

Thanks,

Donna

I would agree with the torque converter diagnosis.
I had similar symptoms and replacing the converter did the trick.

shuddering

I had a similar problem (engine seemed to shudder or buck when accelerating slightly on a slight up grade) and had to take it to the local GM dealer who finally traced it to a bad plug wire. Cost me $92 for the diagnosis and one wire. But it solved the problem. The misfire was causing the torque convertor to go into convulsions (no pun intended).
You just had your wires and plugs replaced. Is it possible one wire isn't seated? Or, maybe just bad? Or how about a plug? This is a terrifically difficult problem to pin down.
I've had a bad spark plug in my tool box since the late 60's, saving it for a cruel joke. It measures OK by resistance and performs well under most driving situations. But accelerate just a certain way and it 'breaks down' (misfires). Only way I found it was with a portable oscilloscope hooked up while driving around (today it would be done on an ignition test setup or on a dino).
Look really hard at the recent service work.

My 84 had the same symptoms and I finally found that the spark plug wires were shot. I realize that you have just replaced them, but defects from the factory are not uncommon. Try running the engine with all lights out. You will be able to see if the plug wires are your problem. My wires were lit up like a christmas tree when I tried this and they were only a couple of months old.
