I have noticed that some C5s have a raised edge that bisects the scallop on the car's side that runs to the end of the door - and some don't - even in the same year.

Was this an option? Why do some have it and others don't?

Are you talking about the "Body Side Molding'? If you are, then yes it is an option, I believe only $75 for a while.

BSM or SASM - Optional. They are not on my C5.

:beer I do have them & I thinkthey look better..... kinda like Zaino vs Meguires or Valentine vs Escort.

If you like them put them on, if you don't take them off.

:eyerole not hardly...Zaino nor any other protectant cuts the door in half or ruins the body lines like the fugly BSMs do......:L

Ah, the old Body Side Moldings debate rears its head again. There is no end to the aesthetics component of this argument. One might as well as try to argue to the virtues of manual transmission over automatic, or Zaino vs. Meguiars, or Corso exhaust vs. Borla...

To answer your question, rwpeders, and keep this thread from being hijacked, BSM's are an option. A controversial option, and that controversy isn't going to be resolved here today.

arent they of some use to keep you from "dinging"up your door? Mine has them and although I can't say I really like them they will stay for that reason only.
Mine is a daily driver.

I do like the new mequires next generation tech wax.
B&Bs the others are too quiet ;LOL

Patrick see you soon:w

Hi Patrick -

Ahhh yes - forum standard topic # 63 - BSM debate. :L

I could go either way - I just helped a freind remove them from his MY Z06.

I'll admit that it looks good - better even.

BSM's look better on the darker cars IMO.

best regards -

Thanks for the info. I can see where this would be a personal preference item. Most C5's I have seen have it, but personally, I like the look of the smooth door better. From a practical standpoint, I can see wanting it to protect the door from careless people who park close and sling open their doors.

BSM - I like 'em

You're right, Patrick... aesthetics and personal choice are the basis for the debate and no one can be made to like/dislike them. As for myself, I like the BSM and in fact it was on my checklist of desired options when I was searching for my C5. IMO it looks better with than without. So we'll have to agree to disagree. :L

They can still chip up your doors and fenders even if you have BSMs:D and also...if those inconsiderate jealous people see BSMs, they try harder to hit your door by slinging their door open even harder:L
