New member as of today. Just bought a used 2000 with 32K miles. Some problem with "check engine" light coming on but mechanics can't seem to find the problem. Replaced the cat converter and O2 sensor. Codes indicate no problem but light keeps coming on. What else can it be which won't show up as code?

Welcome Silverfox7!!

Give it a day or so, but if you don't get a response to your question by nightfall, I'd suggest posting it again in the C5 Tech forum. Folks will stop by to say hello here but technical questions may not get the attention they deserve.;)

I'd throw this out as an idea... Perhaps there is an error in the BCM or ECM itself.

c4c5Specialist might be able to add something to help... I'd ask him what he thinks.

First........................

Welcome to :CAC

Now,I want you to pull the codes!!!
I need them,All of them,History and Currant!!:thumb
If there is a MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light)coming On,there are codes stored in the ECM!!:thumb
I'm sure there will be codes there even if the MIL isn't on!!:thumb Unless somebody dumped them!:thumb
In the instructions below I intentionally omitted how to re set them,We don't want to dump them just yet!!:thumb

You will probly have to go through them 2-3 times to make sure that you get them all written down right (SYSTEM,Letters and#'s,)depending on how many are in there!!:thumb

How to Pull Codes:
1. Turn your key to the "ON" position, but do not start the engine.
2. Clear any present messages by pressing the RESET button.
3. Hold the OPTIONS button down, and press the FUEL button 4 times. (This will get you into the "codes" section of the DIC.
4. The computer will automatically display all the codes your car has created. It will cycle through each code every 3 seconds. (Have a pen and paper handy to write down the codes)

Note: Any code that ends in an "H" is a history code (something that has occurred in the past, but is not reporting as an error currently.)

Don't Push any buttons just..................
9. When finished, simply take your key out of the ignition.

Then repeat process to make sure you have them all!!:thumb

I'm actually a plastic surgeon,But
Yes,I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express!!:D
