"I'll be all around in the dark. I'll be ever'-where - wherever you can look. Wherever there's a fight so hungry people can eat, I'll be there. Wherever there's a cop beatin' up a guy, I'll be there. I'll be in the way guys yell when they're mad - I'll be in the way kids laugh when they''re hungry an' they know supper's ready. An' when the people are eatin' the stuff they raise, and livin' in the houses they build - I'll be there, too."

Ya really gotta hear it though to appreciate it; it's making something like 485 horsepower at the rear wheels. :bu

Yea I agree with roadfrog.
those flares on the midyears should have been done by the factory. The first Vette I had a ride in back in 1965 was a 396-425 roadster that eventually had flares like that put on so he could go wider with the tires

Craig,

You probably know that there wasn't the tire technology in place to make flares a necessity in the mid-60s. Until the late-60s, we ran around on bias-ply 7.75x15 tires on Corvettes. That's roughly 6 inches of tread width on the ground. :eyerole

When lower profile, and wider, tires began appearing in the late-60s / early-70s, then lots of us started hacking up our wheelwells.

Lately, I've done something about the problem with the design pictured above. What problem? The cutting across that prominent C2 (midyear Corvette) belt line. I never did like the flares I installed in the late-60s, but there wasn't anything else available.

Now? Have a look at the SOLUTION.

Sheesh! C'mon Bob, how'd you like it if someone referred to something on your car they didn't like, as a "problem"? I'm glad it's not mine! :L

Yea I remember those days, I remember trying to get the widest tires I could find for a 69 z-28 and finally finding some j-60's or 70's at Montgomery Wards of all places. Michelin Radials were just becoming available and were all the rage:L

I did see your "Soulution" and can't wait to see it when finished I do like those subtle Mods that most people will overlook and make the NCRS guys cringe;LOL

Blackvette, where was that pic taken, looks like a recent small show that was in SoCal, just a bit north of L.A. ?

Thanks, Bobmanx
