If you hadn't seen my previous posts then I should tell you I was having troubles starting roxanne. turned over very slow. Then saturday morning, didn't start at all. Well GMjunkie, you were the first to post, and the the first one to be right, amongst others, But of course I had to find out the hard way...
I looked at the starter first. It looked like almost the original, if not the original, so I replaced it. While at the store, I figured, The plugs are at least 2 years old, so ac/delco were bought. then the wires. they looked old and worn. So I took the plunge with MSD 8mm. Why end there? distributor cap and rotor added to the basket.
so I get home saturday and start working away changing everything out at around noon. well, the starter was not fun. The MSD wires, you had to cut and crimp, so it took a bit longer than I expexted. the cap and rotor, not so bad.
I try to start her, nothing. no turnover. I want to pull out what little hair I have. it's now 7:00 pm. ok, girlfriend not happy because I have spent 7 hours with another woman and me not happy because my car is not starting.
so I wait until the next day. pull the battery and go to walmart of all places, where the battery was originally purchased by the previous owner, my brother inlaw, and ask to test it. they say, " we don't test it, just give store credit." so I say," I'll take it." well turns up it's $65. So $65 buys the new battery. I go home and put it in and guess what? starts right up. ****ed off girlfriend For a wasted day. very happy car! very happy me!
Should have listened to others from the get go. Should of just got the battery. But, she runs amazingly good now. Awesome throttle response.
I pulled 7 old bosch platinum plugs and 1 nst65 or something close to that, probably an original plug. replaced them and other stuff and It feels like a new car.
Took it out sunday and the girlfriend was not happy at the car's response. the average response, "Shane, slow the f*** down."
But daddy. he was verrrrrry happy. The tune up made daddy proud!
