I think I know the answer but I want to make sure:

Adding the
-edelbrock TPI base,
-SLP Siamesed runners (siamesed 2 inches into runners)
-Plenum port matched to the runners (extrude honed)

will reduce my low end torque and increase my high end power, correct?

:w

It will move the power curve a little higher. That means you have to get the revs up quicker!:L

I'm sure those will make a big difference because the stock TPI base was originally designed with the 305 in mind and that's what it's better for. They decided to keep the 350 at the last minute and didn't have time to go back and design an intake for the 350.

Fast,

i've been seeing you scour the web for an intake so i hope you found one!

on a ported TPI such as the setup you are talking about the RPM range should move up about 500-800 rpm.

no redline will be from 5300-5600 and torque will come in from 3300-3500 max torque.

you should see about 20 rwhp increase just from the intake and should't lose much if anything at all on the torque side due to still being an 18" runner.

hope this helps.

Thanks Mic,

I haven't locked the deal yet but my fingers are crossed :D

Will,

Also check the www.thirdgen.org classifieds section. They have a big TPI following over there.

fortunatly for me and unfortunate for him i beat him out on the big mouth base slp runner ported plenum with 52 mm tb by 1 day. the guy lives about 20 miles from me that is selling and i've seen Fast post on a few other classifieds on TGO and CF.

i thought he was gonna get that complete LT1 intake ready for the L98 for 300 bucks! now that was a super deal!

Mic,

What site is TGO? I've never heard of them.

Yeah, you gotta be quick on the classifieds. I haven't bought any car stuff like that but I was quick in buying another one of my toys. Just beat a guy to it by minutes!

shweeeeeeeet!! :D

got em! and now for the crummy part, waiting on UPS.

It's basically the same setup as the one Mic got, minus the 52mm tb.

I wish I was a little quicker with that LT1 intake. The guy sold it on ebay for $390. -Outbid again :cry

I think TGO is third gen but I could be wrong.

Mic: are you going to slap that setup on your L98 or just wait for your 383 monster?

cool Fast congrads! i was thinking about slapping the runners/plenum/52mm TB and seeing what she does on the dyno but the big mouth base/slp runners/ported plenum is going in my third gen Z/28 with a 400 sbc stroker with a T56 trans and 3.73 gears :D

the LT1 intake is going on the 388 setup.

damn! thats still a great deal for the LT1 intake! i got mine from MoonUnit on these boards about a year and a half ago maybe with out the custom fuel lines but with the external waterneck and coolent lines for 500 bucks. priced to a mini ram i say any intake for 500 or less is cheaper than a used SR or MR any day of the week ;)

what setup are you building?

nothing anywhere near as powerful as yours. :cry

Until I find a money tree in my backyard or I learn to work on motors, the intake will be the only real mods to the engine.

The owner of a local performance shop seems to know his way around the 700R4 and he told me I didn't need a shift kit. He wants to double up the clutches between 2-3 & 3-4 (I think) and install a higher stall converter. If I still want a shift kit he'll put in a Trans-go for me at no extra cost (labour)

Being conservative, the new intake and tyranny mods added to the headers/dual exhaust should give me at around 60-70 horses over stock. When I start inching for more, I'll go with a 100 shot of juice. :D
