SLR Performance Chip??????

No LS3 has a any kind of chip inside it.

"Chips", as in ECM calibrations, have not been used in GM cars since 1995 and even then, they were not inside the engine they were inside the engine computer which was mounted, depending on model year, either behind the passenger side kick panel or under the hood at the left side of the base of the windshield.

96 and up Vettes do not have chips. To change the calibration, you have to use a handheld programmer

SLP does sell the Diablo hand-held reprogrammer but it only supports 05-07. 08 and 09 are not supported.
 
I would suggest saving your money. They appear to be selling items which are not usable in a late model corvette and most likely many other cars. My guess is if you buy it and end up not wanting it you will not be able to return it no matter what their return policy is.

SLR ultimate performance chip

I installed the SLR chip in my 07 C6 vette. WOW made a world of difference on the power and torque. now I haven't had it in long enough to check the fuel mileage. but they are right about the power and torque.
 
Could you describe in a little more detail what you mean by a "...world of difference on the power and torque."?

Did you run the car, before-and-after, on the chassis dyno. If so, please post the test results.
 
well, I've had my car for 2 years, and no I have not dyno'd it. But, I drive it hard every chance that i get. Now at 60mph cruising in drive the other nite I stabbed the throttle and it breaks loose with the traction control on, gets a lil sideways and takes off. Although my vette is factory, it is very fast. , it never had the power to do that before. now it is faster and pulls harder. Also the throttle responce is quicker. now you can go spend thousands and not get that kind of increase, so spend the $75 s/h incl. and try it out. it has a money back guarantee.
 
It installs in front of the throttle body, at the (IAT) intake air temp. one wire goes to the IAT and the other wire goes to the MAF (Mass air flow) both wires are in the same harness and run the the same plug, on my vette there are 5 wires going to the IAT and the chip has 2 wires, both of which hooked up to the outside 2 wires. one on the left and one on the right. i peeled the label from the chip and velcroed it to the IAT and hooked the wires up as far down the harness(6") and taped it up with matching black tape. you won't even notice it when you look for it. but you will notice it when you drive the car. let me know if you install one, and how you like it.
 
I was reading the directions and they stated that the chip should be hooked up to the 2 IAT wires which are the first 2 tan wires. I e-mailed them and they stated that they should go to the 2 IAT wires, not one to the IAT and one to the MAF, but stated you have to know which wires they are because they cannot be specific with each different car. The diagram shows a standard picture from the GM database where it shows 2 arrows pointing to the 2 outside wires. The picture has nothing to do with where you should connect the wires...just a picture showing you what the IAT switch looks like on most cars. If you go to the dealer, the diagram is basically the same including the arrows, just different wording on where the wires go.

SLR wasn't much help. I haven't noticed much difference in performance, but what does 50* extra hp really feel like. You really won't know without testing it.

Are you sure of the way you hooked it up...one to the IAT and one to the MAF?

hey tony, when i read the instructions, I was like you. a lil confused, bcause they could be interpreted 2 different ways. so, I asked my son, (military, and colledge grad.) and not a knowledgable car guy to read it carefully and tell me how it reads to him. he read it to be the (MAF), My first time reading it that is what i had come up with, so that is how I hooked it up. the directions give you the wire colors and tell you which wire is which.

try it out, let me know what you think. also if there is any difference to you. this weekend i have a friend coming to hook the car up to the puter to see exactly what the chip is doing. I will let you know.
 
HI there,
These are NOT programmers.
These are creating false signals to the computer to change fuel management reactions. It will either enhance signals or change them for a specific air flow.
NOT a good idea, at all!!!!!

hey man, I dont think that I ever said that it was a programmer, I said it was a performance chip. now with you being a certified tech. please explain to me why this is not a good idea. maybe you have done some research on this particular chip and you have some info that could help us all. thanks
 
HI there,
Sensor data is critical to reliable operation of an engine.
This meaning, correct air fuel ratio, ignition timing, fuel injector timing compensating by the PCM>
If that information is changed, skewed or otherwise NOT ACCURATE, the PCM will take appropriate action to compensate.
This can create piston crown overheating, detonation that is not controllable by the PCM or other issues.
This is why it is not recommended.
If you absolutely must change the function of the PCM, have a PROFESSIONAL tune done.
That way, you will get the most reliable power gains WITHOUT any chance of internal engine damage.
