Question: Smog pump eliminator

Hi i have a 90 l98 with true dual exhaust and no cats. There's no emission standards where i live and i would like to put long tube headers without emission tubes on soon. so I was thinking of getting rid of the smog pump and replacing it with a pulley bracket. My main concern is will the ECM still allow the car to run proper or will i have to get the chip custom tuned?

It will run fine and I saw one on ebay for $50.

Hi jamison, I'm thinking about moving to New Mexico. Does the emission standard change by district or is it the same for the whole state ? Roger.

Hi roger, emissions controls go by district. i live in Rio Rancho and there is none, but in Albuquerque i think you have to get yours emissions checked every 2 years.
