Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

So, what's new today you ask?

And she'll be more beautiful than ever!

67Heaven - I do love your car! Ifn you need a warm climate to store her for the winter I'll be more than happy to volunteer my services. I'll even drive her occasionally for you so that she won't lay dormant all winter. :D

Hey - it's the least I can do.

Thanks, Jane Ann, for that most generous offer. You know, not very many folks would be that kind. Must be your southern friendliness. ;)

More progress today. After removing the bumpers, cutting off the raised pieces, and grinding things a bit smoother, we refit the bumpers in their proper position with the loose pieces tucked inside. We marked where the raised fiberglass had to be and then removed the bumpers again and traced around the pieces.

As you can see from the following photo, the driver's side forward bumper bolt hole was 1.5" lower than it should have been. Doesn't sound like much until you see it along a flat plane like the bumper wings. Then, it looks like Hell.

Both sides are bonded in place to cure overnight. Then, before final bodywork, we'll refit the bumpers again to make sure this time. ;)

By late tomorrow, we should be nearly at final prep. Fingers and eyes crossed. :D

Bob,

If it aint right, it aint right! It would bug the hell out of you if you didn't fix it!

Regards, John McGraw

By the way, the coffee wagon pulled up to the shop this afternoon with a new driver. Heaven was out in the sunshine and he just about jumped out of the truck before it was stopped.

"Is it numbers matching???????", he cried with eyes as wide as saucers.

I didn't know whether to :L or :cry , so I just said, "What do you think?" ;)

Now that the coffee wagon guys are spouting the "numbers-matching-jargon", I think we've all gone mad. ;LOL

For those who don't know, yeah, my VIN plate matches the number on the title, and my license plate matches the number on the ownership.

Anytime! The least I can do for a neighbor!
Southern hospitality, Southern charm! We've got it by the truckload. :gap

I can understand "if it ain't right, it ain't right" but you would have had to put me in a straight jacket and duct taped me to a fence pole when the cutoff wheel was brought out....

I'm still shiverin'.....

That car looks great. Now that my engine is safe in the corner I can really get on it. I think the rear end shot is FINE.

Ahhh... a man after me own heart... an effective use of duct tape I must say!

Here is how the driver's side looked at 7-1/2" from belt line down to tip of the bumper wing...

And, from the rear.......droopy or what. :eyerole

Here's how it looks at 8:00 this morning at 6-1/8" after I bolted them back on for another test fit...

Much, much better. Final body work and prime later today. We're on schedule. :naughty:

Carlisle, here we come.
:w

You know, considering that the car is approximately 6" wider at the rear-wheelwell-centre than original, I consider this a minor setback. It's amazing that we were able to fit the rear bumpers at all. :gap

Bob,

You are a perfectionist... and your car shows it.

For something that I probably never would have noticed... it looks great now that its been put right.
