Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

So, what's new today you ask?

Bob,

Nice to see you got things straightned out, Heaven look's better then ever. :beer

I had not doubts what so ever that you would have it completed in time for the show, because up here we " git-R-done " :D

I'm very pleased with the results. The installed measurements are exactly what I hoped for.

A little cleanup, inside and out, and we'll start packing for Carlisle on Tuesday.
:_rock

Yeah, Baby - looks sweet! :beer

Unbelievable! Is it possible that your car could look even better? It is and it does.

The only other unbelievable post in this thread is that VNV thoght it would only take Barry's shop 1 month...are you dinky-dow, VNV? Or just cutting him some slack?;)

As I start packing for Carlisle today, I got to thinking about the long journey to get Heaven to "The Greatest Corvette Show on Earth".

Sure, the journey started way back in 1967, through the various juvenile stunts of an early-20s hot car owner in the 1960s through Corvette club activities, drag, auto-cross and road-course racing, and eventually total boredom. Then, it was parked for about 20 years and pretty much forgotten.

Finally, along came the end of the house mortgage, some modest financial independence and some time freedom (although I still do work ;) ).

So, once the decision was taken to revive ol' Heaven, the real journey began, and we went from this...

It would have been so easy to have sold it years ago, but I hung on for some reason. :confused

Now, all these many years later, I'm a kid again.........sorry Kid_Again. :D

So, my message is, hang on to your old Corvette. Even if you can't afford to do what you want with it today, some day you'll be able to.

At its lowest point, the car was probably worth less than a New York taxi after two years in the Bronx. It's worth a bit more today, but it was never really about the money. You can't buy this sense of accomplishment.

Good advice Bob.

<start rant>
In this day and age everyone expects instant gratification (fast food, new house fresh out of college, two new cars, etc: stuff that our parents weren't able to have immediately back in their day). And people tend to get it all today with two income families, "instant credit" and the like, without actually having to earn it over the years.
<end rant>

Just goes to show you that some things are worth waiting for.

Really looking forward to seeing the car.

I do wish I had kept my first one (and about a dozen other cars I have owned) and that is one reason I kept the 76 and bought a 97 instead of trading it in on a newer C5. The only problem I see is the people who hold onto old cars that "are worth alot of money" and just let them rot until they are too far gone to rescue. I bought my 76 from a guy that had it in his barn for 4 years while he sat around and drank beer and wondered how he was going to fix the mess that was the steering column :L his Wife was the driving force behind the sale. I went back the next spring after doing the TPI/Tremec/Interior and showed it to him, but didn't have the heart to tell him I was driving it two days after I bought it. ;LOL

Bob,

Your car looked awesome before. Now 67HEAVEN looks even more awesome!

I hope I am grammatically correct. I really wanted to say it looks MOST awesome!!!

You have every right to be proud of what you have done. If you did not have the before pictures, I know some people would not realize just how MUCH work had to be done.

I am happy I had a chance to see and hear 67HEAVEN in person in BG.

Your pictures look great. But, the car is even better in person.

Drive safely to Carlisle. I will not be there this year. Hopefully I will be able to make the trip next year.
