Hi Everyone,

Anyone out there know of good software scan tools that I can install on my Laptop and plug into my 1988 L98 to read codes?

Thanks,

J

There is a free one at www.moates.net but requires you to buy or buildd a cable.

There is datamaster at http://www.ttspowersystems.com/diagnostic.htm which other have liked.

There is also Diacom www.rinda.com which is a DOS program and works great on older Laptops

Finally the is EASE www.obd2.com I have this program for 4 years now, I am very happy with it. When I purchased it, Moates software was not around, and I don't remeber if Datamaster was. I only knew of Diacom and EASE. EASE is all in one, comes with the software and cables and interface. It is a Graphical program as is moates (I think) and Datamaster.

I just looked at www.motes.com and it raises a question in me. Do you think when someone messes around with computers too much they forget how to communicate with people? I was born a motorhead, but I'm only a geek in training.

Mr. LiteSleeper, if you want to do much to these "newer" cars modwise, you damn well better have both skills as far as I can tell ;LOL :beer Welcome :w

I'm a geek and a motorhead wannabe.

Thanks for the tips. I'll look at all of the tools that you mentioned. If the free tool looks good, I'll make a cable and give it a try.

Thanks again.

Moonunit - Your photo is titled "Working out the final bugs". My '88 doen't pull as strong as yours appears to be. What did you do to that '86????
