Has anyone used a solar battery maintainer to keep the battery charged during winter storage? My C5 battery lasts about 5 weeks before it needs recharged unless the car is driven.

Guess if the panel was mounted outside and routed with leads to inside garage it would work. The leads would have to be fairly short. The charger could be rendered useless due to inherent resistance and loss of current over long leads.

On a another thought just tie the battery to a lightning rod, with Chargers coming to town there will be plenty of lightning in the air :D :wtcslap:joke

Be sure to try this out and let us know how it goes!:thumb

It was a funny, hence the :jokejoke. Pittsburgh vs San Diego as in NFL.

Gee I had hoped for more enlightening (and serious) comments but after I returned from the Steeler game tonight, I see why the West coast comments lacked electricity.

To bad I missed the game, I was cruising the beach with the top down in the Vert:cool

OK, so thats the best come back I could muster after the beating Chargers got tonight. I kow thats almost as bad as our game tonight. Congrats on the win and good luck on the way to Superbowl :thumb

As far as the solar charger I have used them on my old sail boat and they worked great. Only time I had trouble with it is when I relocated the panel to the bow. When I added wire to extend the leeds to the panel, the voltage dropped to almost nothing. Not sure if I could have used different wire or what but by adding 30' of wire it simply quit charging. I should mention that the original wires were about 15' so the total run I had was aprx 45'. You might not have to run such long leeds to place the panel outside your garage in which case it should work fine. The on board computer does not draw that much voltage.
