Sound System?

Members,

I recently joined the L81 Vette Registry and the CAC Forums so I thought I'd post my first message.

I've had my 1981 vette for about two months now and have been evaluating what need to be done to restore my car. While I was in the process of that task, I upgraded my stereo, a CD player is a must, front and rear speakers (3-ways in both places).

However, I am very displeased with the sound quality!

Has anyone choosen component type round speakers for replacements for the 6x9's in the rear and if so, did you get the bass sound you desired? My Kenwood 6x9's don't thump at all (or so it seems).

Anyway, I'm interested in hearing what others have down to improve the sound systems in their Vette's!

Okay, here is what I did. Put Infinity 6x9 in rear stock location. Replaced fronts with Infinity plates in stock location. Sony CD head unit, Soundstream 300 watt amp mounted to wall directly behind driver fron seat. For thumpability, I added a powered Bazooka sub which is mounted in the rear at the base of the rear window. The sub takes up a bit of room in the rear, but the alternatives are few. Even the nice setup that rare posted took up some of the room in the rear. I like the sound that I get out of my system. You probably just need a sub. Jeff
