Spare tire is it real or legend.?

The standard wheel and tire will fit in the carrier but quite low.
If you look at the front hinge it has a lower setting.I wondered about that also and noticed that when I had mine down to install a hitch bracket.

, NOW,, what do I do with my big 17" flat tire???

When you put a full size tire in you use the lower retainer bolt mount as shown in the pic in post #33 above.
You also use the lower of the 2 front tray mount holes as mentioned so the whole tray sits level but lower

G Winter and vetteoz both beat me to the punch. It does hold full size tires as well.

light

Where is that little light located near spare tire? It might work with reverse engaged. I have a 96 coupe with spare tire delete option and just changed my OEM run-flats to regular tires. I harvested the parts needed to install the spare, had problems fitting the tub, until I stumbled on the answer about the extra box frame insert. I'm kinda screwed, unless I grind off the weld at the rear of the box frame and remove it. Anyone here ever do this? I'm reluctant to carry a FlatFix can because of what it might do to the low pressure sensors inside tires. Anyone have experience with this as well?

A lot of peeps don't know the spare tire area on some C4 models is illuminated, too. There's a No. 24 bulb that comes on whenever the doors or hatch are opened in dim lighting conditions or at night. It's pretty neat to see it lit up at night.

Odds are, yours had burned out. Check it out!

I looked under mine and don't see anywhere a bulb would or could even be. Where might I find the light? Thanks for the help.

Look under the car near the spare tire cover. You will see a clear, bubble-shaped, plastic lens. That's the spot. I believe '96 models do NOT have the spare tire light, but your '93 should have one, just like my '92.

When you turn your parking lights on, the license plate and spare tire bulbs share the same circuit, so you should check to make sure your license plate bulbs aren't burned out, too.

I also discovered that if your license plate bulb(s) are burned out, your rear cornering lamps won't come on when you're reversing, either. These cars have lots of cool features!

Thanks...I guess my previous owner took it out because I don't see any type of light or fixture at all under mine.

If I remember right, on my 90 it is just inside the drivers side frame rail and about 2 in up just inside the bumper cover.

Thanks....I will check it out after I get over this FLU. It sure does make the body ache.
