Spare Tire:

;help I went to take the spare tire off to check it out. I could tell it was flat. There is a lock on the do ma hikee. It takes a key to get it off to get to the tire. Is this lock something put on by Chevy, or the previous owner put it on. The keys do not seem to fit it.

you will have to get a hold of the previous owner to find out if he has the key...:ugh :ugh

That's what I thought. Working on that now. If this fails, I was looking at the bolts on the top of the rod, I think I can unbolt it and it may come off then maybe go to a locksmith to get the lock off. ????

That'll work.
Then WD40 the lock and try the oval head key again.

No factory spare tire lock on the '80 models, so whatever is there is '79 and earlier. 80 oval key probably won't help.

The oval headed (door) key should fit it if no locks have been changed.

If not WD40, try PB Blaster - great stuff for frozen bolts, etc.
