has anyone installed a tranny cooler? i got one lying around not being used it's about 16 inches long 10 inches wide and 2 inches thick.

has anyone installed one of these? i haven't looked to see if it will fit with the dual fans. my 87 already has an oil cooler on it.

thanks!

Yes, I did just before I went to Pocono for a track session. it's a good idea if you are going to use it hard!

Mike, I put mine on the front of the Airconditionedheat exchanger. you. need to remove the radiator to use the nylon mounts normally supplied. but as long as you don't have the pusher fan in front it will fit there if you do mount it on the back side between the air and tghe radiator. it's a good time to clean out the junk in there while it's apart. (mustangs & so forth)

A friend and I just installed one in my 94 last weekend.
I'll try and get pictures of how it's mounted but we didn't have to remove anything and used the hardware supplied with B&M cooler I bought (didn't use those nylon zip tie thingys that go through the radiator either). It's mounted in front of the condenser.
I'll see if I can get some pics this weekend.

heya Nick,

thanks i'd appreciate that! does yours have the Z51 or Z52 package with the oil cooler? just curious cause with the shroud and all it's hard to get a good look at it....

Not sure about the later C4's, but the oil cooler on the earlier models doesn't go anywhere near the radiator... It screws on between the block and the oil filter, runs a hose to a tap at the bottom of the block, and a tube across and around the engine to the right side of the radiator. There are no separate cooling components, just a "heat exchanger".

thanks Rich,

now you mention where it's located at i think i remember seeing it on the Lift at Tony's Corvette Shop

now i just gotta look up under it and see how the fans are mounted and see where to put it at.

The aux fan is fastened by one screw to the lower valance and by two screws to the shroud right underneath the air filter box. If you take off your filter box, you'll see two screws. There should be about a 4" gap between the fan and the AC. There are a couple more screw holes on that lower valance; is that where the cooler fastens? If so, it'd definitely be out of the way. However, at that point, just how much air would be getting back to your regular radiator?
