Speaking of Rims

I've been looking lately for some new rims. The problem I have is that I can’t find too many different styles for the car. It seems I can only find the A-mold style rims. With the exception of some $3500 sets, sorry but that's too much for me, there is no finding any cool rims. OK, I'll spend $1000 to $1500, but that's about it. Anyone know of some hidden websites that actually has a variety of rims for a '93. Or am I just a wishful thinker w/ the $1500? I remember when I had my '71 Monte Carlo the choices were endless. I'm not looking for "22 dubs or anything. But maybe something like a classic WELD.

I'm not sure what you are looking for but I bought a set of Chrome wheels on Ebay mounted with Kumho tires for about what you want to spend. That included shipping to Hawaii.
Another source you have probably already tried is the Tire Rack. There should be a link on this site somewhere.

try hvydeez.com, it cost me @2200 to get 17x9.5 up front and 17x11 in the back with nitto tires mounted and balanced came with the lug nuts too. they have a lot of styles to choose from. plus they are pretty unique i have only seen 2 cars with the same wheels as mine one a 69 camro in a magazine the other is chris's shark

I agree with spyysee, the Kuhmo's are very nice tires. I wasn't too thrilled at first as I had never known anyone who ran them (small "genepool" over here) but after having them on for a year now I really like everything about them. I would consider them for a good ride and a good drive.

Cameron, HRE, Fikse entry level price is 2,500 for Corvette rims in a 17x9.5

Hickock ain't cheap either. Never checked out Ronal or Weldevo.

Rims are not a cheap item to buy. Either you buy a mass produced rim and look like everybody else, or you spend the money and roll on something not to many people have.

I've got the Fikse FM5's for street and a set of GM A-molds for the track.

check these out: http://www.ccwheel.com/framestructure.htm they used to have a c5 as their intro page car. They are based in florida, make the rims to whatever size you want. According to 101 projects for your corvette, they have a nice history of fitting wide tires under the c4.

I know they definitely aren't cheap and I didn't know what you were looking for. I have been looking for rims for my 85 for months. I can not afford 2,500 for wheels, as this is what I paid for the whole car originally just last year. And though corvette wheels were designed for the application intended, I'm not a fan of their design. Call me picky, but any car I've ever built stands out from neibour Jo's next door. But I have never had such a hard time finding rims as I have for this 85. And though I know that running spacers is "supposedly Bad" I do not race my car and have grown up some (well, maybe not all the way) and now find myself considering running spacers so that I have more options. Anyway, good luck and if I can help anymore just yell.

Got your message, but don't understand. Though they are nice, I want something different in wheels. It's just that 38mm offset that's killing me. I can't find anything worth looking at that has my 85's need. Thanks and do keep your eyes open for me.

OK, what about this one? I think I like it but Im not sure, lol. Maybe a little to "Bling" for me. That, or it takes away from the class of the car. What do you all think? Looks like it only comes in a 18x8.5 or 20x8.5

Believe I have seen those on a vette somewhere,,, maybe on a forum members picture. I think they look pretty good , hard lines not soft. Fit the car. Myself I don't like crome on the C4 just doesn't look right to me. Good think we don't all like the same thing .

315s or not, that's the question...

Hi all you Vette fanatics!
I'm having serious trouble deciding if AFS 17x11 with 315s will really fit on my '84. I've heard they fit inside the wheelwell with the GS offset (50mm) but AFS has a 36.5 offset. Has anyone here actually put them on their early C4 and if so, how much (if any) do they stick out and do they really clear the inner fender and suspension? If you have a pic that's even better!

Have you considered getting Chromed sawblades? I ordered Chrome OEM rims for my 88 from Corvette wheel specialists. $625.00 plus a refundable $600.00 core charge. The OEM's create a whole new appearence when Chromed.

Not sure if it's any help, but I have Epsilon wheels (17x11) with 315-35X17s at all corners; have for years, and the car is lowered about 3/4". The only rub issues I have had are hard dips at speed, which have rubbed and cracked the inner rear wells. Setting the front to specs for the 17" wheels caused rubbing that is not the case with the setting for 16".

Here's a shot (also shows my new chrome tips). You cannot see real well, but the tire edges are very close to aligning with the fender wheel opening.
