Hi All. My 78 Pace Car is leaking where the speedometer gear assembly connects to the transmission. A mechanic replaced the plastic gear (at no charge) which lessened the leak but did not stop it. Can I purchase an entire gear assembly, or do I need to replace the individual o-rings and seals separately? Any suggestions? Thank you! :)

I just had this happen on my 81. You can replace the O ring or repalce the entire gear and O ring. I repalced the gear and seals and all is good.

This is a 78' speedo gear housing. You will need both the outside o'ring (you can just barely see it in the photo) and the orange seal on the inside. Try the Chevy dealer first. As I recall, I bought mine from one of the Corvette parts suppliers.
