Anyone have the correct procedure for replacing the plastic speedo gear that is in the tranny of my 63. Looks like you can get to it by disconnecting the speedo cable, removing the retainer bolt and pull out the adaptor / gear? I was talking to a mechanic who said that you had to remove the back half of the tranny to replace the speedo gear??? Seems like an expensive way to fix something that looks simple to replace.... I've already replaced the speedo cable and it didn't fix the problem. The speedo will only register up to about 25 mph. Thanks for your thoughts and comments.
