Someone told me that a speedometer has some type of fluid in it is it true? does it go bad ? what's the scoop

Does a speedometer have some type of fluid in it? can it go bad and mess up the speedometer?

ive never known speedometers to have a liquid in them except for LCD"s from i remember i think they had a spring in behind the face that worked the needle as the car went faster the more the needle moved.

I'm pretty sure there's no fluid in there. On older cars I believe they are strictly mechanical. Newer cars have some fancy elec-trickery but I'm pretty sure there's no fluid.
