ive never known speedometers to have a liquid in them except for LCD"s from i remember i think they had a spring in behind the face that worked the needle as the car went faster the more the needle moved.
I'm pretty sure there's no fluid in there. On older cars I believe they are strictly mechanical. Newer cars have some fancy elec-trickery but I'm pretty sure there's no fluid.
Ok, We had got in a debate of sorts at work a buddies 72's speedo quit I thought gear , but his guru told him something about fluid a miss communication I think.
