Help! Spotting the C5

The ones on the left are, I believe, the magnesium wheels that were offered as an option. IIRC they were an option from 98 on. Not a cheap option so there weren't that many out there. They were only available in a slightly different painted color of silver.

I had factory mags on my 98. They were "purty," but a pain in the butt. They were brittle and soft, as you might expect, but they were painted a stock color, so they could be touched up. They became really obsolete when the thin spokes were introduced, and weighed about the same.

Help! Spotting the C5

Thanks to all for your input about the C5 wheels.

I have another question about the 2002 C5. The Corvette was the pace car for the 2003 Indy 500. My understanding is that there was no pace car replica as with previous years; 1998 for example. I've been told that a decal package was made available - see attached GM publicity photos - leaving the install choice up to the buyer.

The question is: did the decals come with every 2002 Corvette or just the Magnetic red coupes?

Also , were they with the car at the time of delivery or did the owner have to order them?

I think that the 98's were a special version with the purple and yellow color combo. Did they come with the decal package on it or was it an add-on? I can't answer that. Tankman, I think, has had his since new or at least for a very long time. Maybe he'll see this and chime in.

Can't say for sure about the 03's either. Most of the Anniversary models I've seen are sans decal package. However a friend of mine bought a 50th just about a year ago with all the decals in place, just like the one in the pictures. First one I'd seen.
