Just got back from Nevada's Spring Mountain Advanced Driving School. In a word "WOW" What an experience! Spent 3 days on the track in ZO6s, C6s and even a supercharged Calloway corvette. I guarentee you 95 % of vette owners have no idea of what these cars are capable of. The instructors were unbelieveable with their knowledge, skill, kindness and especially their patience. I am an infinitely better driver for taking this course, I understand the physics of going fast much better and had the most fun I ever had. To anyone thinking of going I highly recommend it. The price was a bargin

Congratulations on a great experience with one of our valued sponsors. :beer

I'm interested in doing this as well. Can you get me in the ballpark on price, options, lodging, etc?

Thanks for the report.

Hey boeingdriver, The regular price is $2900.00 for the 3 day level one class. There are all kinds of discounts available, Gave me 200 off for saying I heard about them on the CAC. Visit their website. I can tell you from going there the web site is a fair representation of the experience. The town (Pahrump) is 45 minutes from las vegas Straight down hwy 160, literally There are no turns. The town has a population of 40,000 that includes several restaurants, casinos and shopping malls (the Winery is a must for dinner at least once). Additionally there is breath taking scenery in every direction. Half of my class stayed in vegas the rest in the best western in Pahrump. My class consisted of 13 guys and a girl. A 25ish guy, 2 in their mid 30's the rest late 40's, 50's and early 60's. Everyone had a great sense of humor and fun was had by all. You won't regret it! DO IT, you will apreciate you car a 100% more

Thanks for the update. I purchased the 3 day course at Spring Mountain's booth at Vettes on the Rockies as a retirement present to myself.. I plan to take the course after I retire in June and after CruiseFest 08. Did you drive to LV or did you fly? Where did you stay? According to Spring Mountain people, they have arrangements with several motels.

Hi Redvette, About half (7) of my class stayed in las vegas, 45 minutes from the track. An easy commute thru the mountains (Heavily Patroled) so don't speed. The other half stayed at the best western in Pahrump Nev, 5 minutes from the track. When you make contact with sprng mountain they can get you a deal at the best western. Also, they will give you their corporate account number that you can use to get a discount on an "Enterprise" car rental. Have fun! Also they recommend bringing a pair of Piloti or other brand driving shoes. I thought this was a little over the top but I bought a pair on line before I went. They were ABSOLUTELY worth it. I had no idea how technical the foot work required to manipulate a car around a demanding course quickly. The shoes made the job a lot easier. johnm

Thanks for the info on the shoes - never thought about that. Will look into purchasing a pair before I go.

Four years ago I was just starting out ... paid $25 for a pair of wrestling shoes vice driving shoes. 'bout worn out in 4 years.
Planned on getting new driving shoes; looked around; opted to get another pair of wrestling shoes @ $50. Leather ... and if I want to, I can wear nomex socks :D
