My C5 has developed an annoying squeak, or at least it's just gotten loud enough to hear it at very slow speeds on uneven surfaces. I first noticed it driving on gravel driveways - mine and my parents' - and I've wondered if it may be the shocks or ......? ;shrug

It seems to be coming from the passenger side but I can't tell if it's from the front or the rear.

Other than the obvious ones to drive fast and stay on pavement ;) anyone have suggestions as to the cause and how I can go about eliminating it?

Come to think of it, my doors seem to be slightly out of alignment too. It's as though they have both dropped slightly on the hinges. Could it be I need new shocks? :confused

TIA

Jane Ann,your noise is Probly coming from Front Stabilizer Bar Bushings!! Mine has done it in the rt front Cold since NEW!! Chevrolet replaced the bushings twice, and each time it got worse!!!! So I just jack it up every month or so and loosen the bolts (4-10 mm)and squirt Transmission Assembly Lube around the bar and tighten them back up!!!! Work's for about 6 weeks!! On your door the henge bushings are getting a little worn, Keep them lubed with white grease in a spry can, and I'll check them and see if I can adjust your doors at the dragon run in may if you can make it that long, it may be the Right door squeaking,if so when you lube them it may stop!!!!! :upthumbs My stabilizer Sounds Like a OLD BARN DOOR!!;LOL :D :rotfl

Thanks Jesse,

the upcoming dragon trip was on my mind along with preventative maintenance. I appreciate the offer and may take you up on it! I've got to get the oil changed soon and I'll mention it along with your ideas to Kevin.

C'ya soon!

Might try some Viagra on the door hinges to keep the doors from drooping. ;LOL

Hotwing,

A couple of questions come to mind.

Are you going to follow me around the forum now, sharing your version of wit and wisdom in all my threads or just concentrate on this one?

Are you going to continue posting about your dating history in Saigon and personal experiences with Viagra? If so - start your own thread, please.

If you're trying to be funny, you're not. If you're angry - take it somewhere else. I'm not interested.

The door henge bushing's aren't Replaceable on C5's,but you can adjust them a couple times before they get bad enough to have to replace the henge's!!:upthumbs

Jane Ann - have you put the top down to see if the squeak is still there? I have the same annyoing noise but after much detective work have found it is coming from the top frame assembly, somewhere inside the headliner (where of course I can't get to it to lube it). Also my top is a bit out of alignment (the driver window closes on the outside of the top in the upper RH corner) so this may have something to do with it.

oops I just remembered, didn't you just get a new top...oh well I tried! (blushing)

Jane Ann...

I presume it is not in the steering wheel? Mine makes all sorts of noise at slow speeds. Once I am over 20-30 mph, I can't hear it anymore. Of course, I am a tad deaf and the Borlas do tend to block a lot of unappreciated noise.:L

As for the Dragon's Tail, do they have a Corvette day? :confused Or, do you simply compete with all the sport bikes trying to negotiate 300 or so curves in less than 10 miles? (I forget the stats...have be on a Harley up there) I know that road is twisty like no other in the South. :eek:hnoes Just wondering if I need to take the Vert up for a trial run? :)

BORLAS?? :eek And you can hear squeaks?? ;LOL I don't think it's the steering wheel. It seems to be coming from outside and beneath the car.

Good question, but I don't think so.

Check out some of the threads in the Southeast Forum. There are some great Dragon trip photos there.

And if you're available, a group is making a Dragon Run the weekend of May 4th, 5th and 6th. Check out this thread for more info.

Thanks for the replies and ideas everybody. I appreciate everyone's interest and suggestions pertaining to the issue.

I had that squeek as well and it was my convertible top mechinism rubbing. I put a cloth between it to troubleshoot and that as it

Jane Ann,
I think we both need to take Jesse for a ride on the Dragon. I almost have the same issue except mine is on the drivers side.

In trying to track my rattle down I did find a squeak in the top. Per Pinky's question does it do it with the top up and down?

I recently acquired the GM eSI service DVD that has an entire section on C5 squeaks and rattles. I'll check that tonight and see what I can find. (it did not have the solution to mine)

I made a mental note to check out Pinky's suggestion when I get the chance. I haven't had it down recently because the pine tree pollen is horrible around here right now! :eek:hnoes Everything is this color --->:)

I thought this was the type of reply I might get. Ah well I guess when you set yourself up.....I guess it could have been worse. :ugh

Noise Diagnosis - Rear of Vehicle

Humm cut and paste didnt work.

Jane Ann,

I had a noise like that also. Junk hit it on the head, it was the rubber bushings around the stabilizer bar. I do have a coupe, so that took the top out of play for me.

Noise Diagnosis - Under Vehicle

Humm cut and paste didnt work here either.
