Squeaky Speedo

I think I have pinpointed the source of my squeak to the speedometer. I have a rebuilt transducer and two new speedo cables. The speedometer works fine but the squeak gets louder the slower that I go. Besides not slowing down, does anybody have any suggestions as to what needs to be done?

have you tried some white grease(in a can)or graphite spray.. or maybe even penetrating spray....

I changed the speedo cable last weekend ( no cruz ) on my 80 vette. Now it does not work at all. Think i did something wrong at the transmissiom connection. ??? My old cable worked but also made a clicking noise , Louder when slowing down. When i took the old cable off the end at the speedometer was almost rounded instead of square. Any ideas for me on why the new cable is not working>>> Dave
