Standard or Auto

My $.02? It depends on how GOOD you are! I have driven sticks all my life and proud of it. I am good at it, and can shift as smooth as silk when I want to - or not, depending!

So, what is your level of experience? Since you are asking, I would guess you aren't used to stick. If so, you have to learn to be GOOD - it's a challenge, an art. Master it and you will love it!

OK guys, flames on!

Bob

I don’t think you deserve flames, you brought up a good point, it takes practice to become proficient with a manual.

I agree, shifting gear is easy, but really driving a stick takes skills.

aren't there special Corvette driving schools for that ?
to upgrade your total driving skills ?

In Holland we have them (not specially for Vettes) in different stages.

I have done some of these course and one of them was a drifting course
now that was fun :D

I am old school, sports car just isn't a true sports car without a stick, but for stop and go traffic the auto would be nice .

Another thing to consider is the associated parts that come with each. I own an A4 and I love them for drag racing. It is much easier to be consistant with an automatic. The 6sp will come with a Dana 44 rear end and the A4 will have a Dana 36. The Dana 44 is a much beafier rear end and you would not have to worry about upgrading in the future. The rear gear on thr 6sp is also a steeper gear versus the auto. The highest gear in the auto is a 3.07 verses 3.42's in the 6sp and you can upgrade to 4.10's with any problems. With all that considered though, I would still buy another A4.

Both have their positive points. I put a D44 in my car. The auto is more consistant at the track and frequently quicker than an equivelent stick with a very good driver.

I've owned lots of sticks, but I love the A4 in the vette, which I shift manually 99% of the time, up and down. As far as overfall performance.... I just let my sig speak for that ;)
