Good day folks.

Just replaced my alternator and put in a brand new battery without any issues. She fired right back up...ran great while while warming up. I went to move the other car in the drive and had to shut off the vette to get the keys off the key fob. Started the vette back up but now she will start fine, just won't stay running. She won't idle at all, just dies out. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot? Was so proud of myself changing the alternator, new battery and then this to happen. Any guidance would be great.

Could be fuel starvation. The good news is the pump, relay and everything else works. The ECM triggers the fuel pump for two seconds, then it needs ignition pulses from the ECM and oil pressure to allow the fuel to keep pumping. I wonder the sensor wire from the oil pressure sending unit came off. That connection is at the rear, upper engine, near the base of the distributor. There are two oil pressure wires in that area, according to the manual's diagram; one for this purpose, the other feeding the gauge.

Thanks for the response. The wires appear to be intact and connected.

Take it for a 10 mile drive and it will be fine the computer will relearn.
When you removed the battery the BLM needs to relearn just drive it.

Exactly!!!!:upthumbs

Well,

Just completed a 12 mile trip. Still no luck. starts fine...runs like a banshee when it drives but when I come to a stop.....the rpm gauge just drops.....and she just dies off. will restart with no issues...fires right up...but still won't idle.

Take the EGR valve off and check and see if a piece of carbon is stuck in the pintail!!:upthumbs

OK so you have a problem.

I did not want you to start throwing parts at it because a lot of times this will happen when you disconnect the battery.

The problem could be the IAC try cleaning it and make sure it is working.

When you start the engine leave your foot off the throttle and see if it starts at a higher rpm then drops back if not let us know.

If the engine won't start without pushing on the throttle the IAC is not working.

OH Yeah Baby!!!!

YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!!!!!! Gotta love the CAC!!!!!

Thank you so much!!!!. I never thought I could ever be able to work on cars. This site is always keeping me rolling without spending all the big bucks!!!!

Thanks again!!!
