Last week I thought I had a bad battery. The starter was chattering like it wasn't getting enough current to it. This past Thursday it started making a grinding sound like the solenoid was missing it's mark on the flywheel. So before I got it down, a small 1/4-20 bolt fell down...I didn't pay it any mind until I finally got the starter out.

When I looked at the starter, the nose cone was cracked from the pilot bearing to the armature housing! Then it dawned on me...When I got the car back from the repair shop in Vegas last March, one of the things I noticed was that one of the valve covers was missing a bolt. You guessed it, the bolt found its way into the starter and tried to eject it through the nose cone of the starter.

Thankfully, nothing was ruined and within an hour I was back up and starting (much quieter I might add) like a champ....:happyanim:

I like that. A problem and a solution, all in one post!

Glad to hear you are up and running (starting) again! :cool!:

Be sure to SAVE the WAVE! :w
