starts but stops

1988 engine starts but stops immediately/timing ok/dist new/just don't know?

The FIRST THING WOULD CHECK is FUEL PRESS.

Check the codes. Also when you turn the key to the on position do you hear a noise. It is brief, but it is the fuel pump. If you dont hear it that could be a problem. Like drags1998 said check fuel pressure. So if you start it and give it some gas it still dies? Huh.
