I need some help with a part for my steering column, I have removed the steering wheel and repainted and covered it now I want to reinstall it but there is a part that is broken and I can't find it in any of the parts catalog's. Its a plastic cover, see picture, that goes over the steering column assembly nut, see second picture, and retainer, the lower nut not the steering wheel retaining nut. The spring from the lower contact assembly rests on this plastic part. Mine is broken and I have glued it back together but as you can see in the picture it is not complete. My questions are, does anyone know if this part has to go back on and if so where can I get one? The part number on the part is 7808385, it appears to be unique to the 76 steering column as far as I can tell. Any help would be appreciated.

76okie..
I checked GMPartsDirect for that part# and it shows it as available for $6.17 (their price).. It doesnt show a pic or other description. Hopefully this is the one.. :)
