i have the steering column out of my 65 and figured i might as well replace the rag joint since i don't know how old it is....ordered a kit from corvette central and it's one of the "help" label ones....any tricks to doing it?...it looks pretty straight forward.....i already have the joint off the steering column...thanks

Your call, but I wouldn't recommend using one of the "Help" kits to rebuild the rag joint; the material composition isn't correct, and the loose bolts and nuts supplied are a far cry from the original riveted studs and bolts. Steering is a critical safety system, not a great place to save money. Doc Rebuild has complete/correct replacement coupler assemblies for about $100.
