I had asked this question once before.. I am tring to replace an aftermarket steering wheel on a 74 with tele column. I was told that you just need a screw driver. Well I removed the horn button, horn contact and shim, lock start screw, lock ring and spacer and the nut and washer. The wheel will not come off?? Do I need a wheel puller? THE AFTER MARKET WHEEL LOOKS SO DIFFERENT THAN THE ORIGINAL?? Has anyone replaced the steering wheel on a 74 that can shed some light on this. Is the original steering wheel the same for a tele column and standard column?

Hi, I had my husband read your thread as he just did a tilt steering wheel replacement in a Jeep a few weekends ago and encountered what you are experiencing. He says he has an exploded drawing that he'll locate when he gets up in the AM and leave at the computer for me to share with you.

It sounds like the hub was changed with the after market steering wheel. If thats the case then yes you are going need a puller to get the steering wheel off. Most after market steering wheels have an abapter to make them fit, so it may look different. As far as if there is a difference in steering wheels, they are the same.
