Does anyone know of aftermarket steering wheels available for 1986 corvettes. Such as Momo?

Yes, I installed a MOMO on my car. the adapter wasn't right though. and I needed to modify the horn connection to get it to work. I believe there is a proper hub adapter, however it seems like the knowledge of just which one to use is hard to come by.
I got mine from auto seattle

I had a Momo then switched to a Grant Mirage with leather molded hand wraps. (Bout 500$)

You can basicly use any wheel you want! Both Momo and Grant have the adapter kits for the Corvette with telescope steering and without.

I chose the Momo adapter/hub because its cast alumimun not punched tin. I did however have to modify the Grant wheel to make it fit by drilling in some new holes (LOTS of measuring) So now I have the best of both worlds.

I sold my Momo wheel for 30 bucks LOL (Acutally it was a trade for my motion sensor on my alarm)

like this?

Johnny,
Every day that I check this forum I see different pics of your car. I like many of your modifications, can you email me or post some pics of your car from the side, and the engine bay?

Johnny, I see that you got the interior done. Looks good! :upthumbs

I might be tempted to steal a few ideas from you for mine. How did you handle the finish of the aluminum pieces? Did you simply give them the "brushed" look and leave 'em bare, or did you clear coat them after finishing the metal? So far all I've done to my pieces is to sand them with fine grit paper, nothing else yet. Any suggestions?

Also, what indicator lights are you running there in the driver's panel? I count three just above the steering column, although I see what appears to be one more on either side of the top gauge. Clue me in please. ;)

Thanks in advance. :cool

Ken,
How long did it take you to make that conversion with your instrument cluster?

It's still a work in progress! :L

Actually, the crafting of the aluminum and bezel is nothing, wiring it all is another story. ;)

I was wondering how many people who own vettes with the digital display have thought about going all analog. My display is blinking off and on now.... It works best when the outside temp is over 75..... but thats another story....

Gee, now if you had an '87... (my digital display was only about a year old) ;)

Can you replace the stock gauges with the analog kind? what about the signal from the computer? Cutting wires, etc...

Hello Ken,

For me is this setup temperaily, but if you like the Nascarlook, try sanding the aluminum, I think it is nice and cool. The indicator lights are ofcourse the two left en richt turn lights. The three at the steeringcolum are : headslights on/ contackt/ waterpump indicator

Thx for the compliment!

I have a lot of new ideas, but it take some time and money :(, so every year I come one step closer for what I have in mind. I wonder if a every be finisched with my vette. It's for fun!

this al already out of dated, I have now a electrical steeringpump and electrical waterpump! Awsome, I add 20 hp with this and more torque. But most off all, the steering capbilities, never drive a vette who can steer as sharp as this!!!!

Yes you can, but when you buy something, buy always electrical gauges. And I think you need a specialist to do so. For me it was simple, I have a complete new computer installed and new wirering. I have a DTA sequential injection system, who can adjust with a notebook :)
