A CD player will not fit the '72 bezel without cutting the bezel (too wide). If you have an original bezel, my advice is not to cut it. Purchase one of the aftermarket precut reproductions and use that, or purchase a used stock replacement off ebay and cut that. Pack your original uncut bezel away until resale/restore time.

For speaker locations, I would use the stock dash positions and put 4x6 or 4x10 behind each kick panel (stock 68-69 speaker location). You would get four speakers, no cutting, and not lose any storage space.

Look at one that plays MP3 discs or one with a built in IPOD/MP3 Player hookup. Takes the place of a disc changer.

Check out Mid-America Motorworks Web Site at mamotorworks.com. Then click on the Vette. They have new bezels with the radio already installed in it. Don't know what your price range is but I have found them to be always within the ballpark. Several different radios to choose from, and the speakers etc to go with it. Sign up for their free catalog and you'll have an excellent source for parts and accessories. No, I'm not a rep.

the only stereos i have seen for the older vettes are just that..for older vettes... notmany people listen to cassette tapes any more... my stereo was swapped out for a bigger kenwood unit and the prior owner did a pretty shoddy job if you ask me... i would do what was suggested, make sure you get one thta an ipod or mp3 player will hook right into for one..... i want to change mine but there are 2 problems... my door dony lock and i dont feel like fixing that just yet... and really if the yankees arent playing i dont normally have the radio on at all... i like the sound of the motor!
