my best time on the gtech is 16.5
No offense, 81 Corvette, but,.....GAWD, that sounds slow! You should REALLY find a strip & get a 'legitimate' ET. I've heard some of these 'High-School Harry-Hot-rodders' talk about ETs & MPHs registered on their G-Techs that just don't 'jive'.
3 weeks ago, @ Pittsburgh Raceway Park, a guy took his very nice 81-4/speed for a 'test-n-tune' session. I be-friended him, & we talked about his '81 (I had my 12-second '79 Z28 that night).
He'd taken his young son that night, just to "see what she'll do..." , assuring me he wouldn't gear-jam, fearing breakage. By his 3rd run, his was revving it up, dumping the clutch, etc. I saw him run 15.28 (forget the MPH; I'm thinking it was 88?), and we were BOTH happy & surprised.
My bone-stock, 19,000-mile '82 (200 HP Cross-Fire, wide-ratio 700R4/A-OD/2.87:1 gears, BFG TA Radials) runs 15.90 @ 86+ MPH 'deep-staged' on THE hottest day last year; I'm 'guessing' it'd go 15.70s 'shallow-staged'....I'd think a non-computer, carbed-350", THM350-C would run AT LEAST as good as a stock Cross-Fire; just an opinion.....

Bear in mind, my car isn't running 100%. I'm doing some work this weekend that should hopefully improve my time. BTW, if you search around here, you will see stats for a 81 from a couple of magazines. There best time was 15.4 so with my car having 142,000 miles and being out of tune, its not soooo bad. lol Still a dog.

I'm not taking this dog to a track until it can put up a respectable number. I know gtech isn't gossip, but it gives me a ball park and thats what i need for now.

no offense taken

Other variables

81corvette: I looked to see where you live, but your personal information does not say. Remember that altitude has a great deal to do with 1/4 mile times. I run my car at a strip with an elevation of 2600'. I cannot run what the magazines say that I should run, but when I apply the formulas for elevation and temperature correction, I am close. Just a thought...

I have a stock '79 L-82. I have added headers and Accel ignition parts. Three speed automatic. I run at Cecil County Dragway on Friday night fun runs. When the air gets cool at night I can count on 15.15 all night long. The LT-4 is another story entirely.:Steer
