I've seen a lot of the posts on the SEARCH SITE, but specifically, how
difficult is this to do? This is all new to me.

HOW TO PROCEDURES - -

First, checking for leakage (hard to start--then runs excellent)?

Second, removal of FUEL RAIL & INJECTORS.?

Third, good inexpensive brand to purchase & where to buy?

PLEASE NOTE: Back in the day, my 1965 GTO was really, very easy to work on. Oh well, shouldn't be too difficult. THANKS ONE MORE TIME

Can't help much with the checking for leakage. Attach a fuel pressure gauge to the schrader valve on the back of the fuel rail, and turn key on to pressure up the system. Then turn off key and watch how quickly the pressur goes down....now I'm not sure how fast the pressure should go down, but lets say it should hold pressure for a quite a while after the key is turned off.

Removal of the fuel rail is not all that bad.

Take the fuel rail covers off. Relieve the pressure on the fuel rail; push schrader valve make sure that you put some rags to collect the fuel that will be come out. Remove the electrical connectors from the top of the injectors (squeeze and pull). Then take compressed air and blow the crap out from around the injectors where they go into the intake manifold. On top of the intake there are 4 bolts that hold the rail in place remove the 4 bolts and the fuel rail will just pull up (not easily if it has been a while since they were off). The injectors themselves are held in the fuel rail by little clips which must be slid off before you pull the injectors out of the fuel rail.

I bought my injectors from FIC http://fuelinjectorconnection.com/shop/ Jon Banner is quite knowledgable and a very nice guy. I bought rebuilt Bosch Series 3 injectors from him, which he match flow tests for even performance. Tell him Tom Bachman recommended him. Mine were $189 delivered.
