I may have an opportunity to purchase a 1972 convertible. The selling price is right. I'm told the frame is solid, the motor matches the vin. I'd have to verify transmission and rear end.
I'm waiting for pictures as the car is a couple hours from my door. The owner tells me that the head lights are out of the car, and the openings have been glassed over. Now what I don't know and I guess I need to ask, is were the opening patched, or was the headlight lids used and the gaps were just filled.
Either way, what kind of fiberglass and paint expense am I looking at to restore stock appearance? The car is red, and the paint from what I'm told is very nice. In my mind, the openings for the headlights would need to be openend back up. Doing this would create a rough surface around the edge of the opening, opposed to an original car the edge around the opening is finished. I've never come across anything like this before.
