I've got a strange tapping noise coming from brake area of my 79 coupe. The tapping noise seems to increase with the speed of the car. But when the brakes are applied the tapping goes away. I don't feel any vibration in the brake pedal or steering wheel. The car drives fine but the noise concerns me.. The brakes are new ,and the front bearing repacked..I can't seem to locate the noise, when people ride they say right rear. I hear it coming for the right front...Thanx in advance for any help..

Sounds like it could be either of two things - lateral runout in the rotor knocking the pads back and forth (most likely), or the backing plates on the new pads are slightly shorter than the old ones and are knocking fore-aft against the cavity in the rotor. I'd double-check the wheel bearing adjustment first - if they're set a bit loose, it'll cause rotor runout.

John, you dailed it in for me..it was the right rear wheel bearing :cry Thanks for your help..
