I just took my daughter for a ride in my 03 Torch Red. I haven't driven it for a week so I decided for a quick run on the interstate (I-25). I took it up to 130 mph and at 130 both windows (drivers and passengers) seemed to pop - we thought the doors were going blow/fall off - sort of scared both of us. The wind/air noise definitely increased for the short time we were going 130. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is it a regular thing at 130? If not, is there somethiong I can do to prevent it from happening again (other than not going 130)? Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
Of course, this is caused by your cowl pressure, pushing fresh air into the vehicle, and the pressure not being able to vent.
IF you look at the attached links, you will see the panel, which if removed, will assist in the venting of cabin pressure above this speed.

This is the pressure relief valve that you want to leave open when you remove the carpet. Once the trim is removed, it will be alot easier to vent the pressure.

I have a 01 and have traveled out west ant 130+ and all i do is put the climate control in recurculate an that solves the pressure problem as far as i know up to 158mph.

I never...

had any problems like that ....?!!

Seems odd to me!

I've had several cars with this problem. The 87 Iroc was the most abrupt one as far as windows popping out. They did very quickly and all of a sudden at 147 MPH. Almost blow your eardrums. I had a 72 highly modified Vette. It would kiss the 200 MPH barrier after tons of suspenion, air dams etc. I actually made SS retainers to hold the windows in because they would pop hard too.

The fastest I've had the Z so far is 167 MPH. The windows stayed put. Not sure where I had the ventilation system set. That's a good tip about putting it in recric. Will use it if necessary.:beer
