Stuck hood latch

I went to open my hood today and only one side came loose I need to know how to free this problem.thanks

My passenger side latch sticks occasionally even though the driver's side pops free. What I do is apply upward pressure on the driver's side back corner of the hood with one hand while pulling the release again. It's annoying. My guess is the cable that crosses the engine bay has stretched. You can put a washer between the pass side cable end and the latch I guess but hopefully there's a more elegant way to fix this annoying problem. Is there an adjuster in there somewhere? Or do you crimp on a tiny new cable end next to the old one?

All the more reason to either buy the aftermarket release handle that outlets such as Mid America or Corvette Central sell, or make one of your own.

Ken what does the tool look like. And I'll see if I have the material to make one.

The tool Ken is talking about is about 2ft.long ,made out of 1/4-5/16 round steel rod. on one end it has a 90% 1" leg ,on the other end it has a 5-6" 90% bend that is used as a handle. You CAREFULLY slide the small end between the door & the door mounting post with the end facing down, you may have to hunt around to find the latch, when you do twist the long end in your hand & pray, If you have been REALLY GOOD it will release the latch.:D

....

I had the same darn problem. The pass side was sticking. I adjusted the front of the hood on the pass side dosen't take much. The front pass side of the hood has about 3 bolts. I think i slid the hood a bit forward (1/8'') only on the pas side. Hasn't stuck since

Also, if you don't want to keep the hood tool around, I read somewhere (prolly on CAC) how you just tie a 2' piece of wire to the hood release latch on each side, coil the remainder up and twist tie it, then lay it on the cowl under the wiper blades. Then if the cable or whatever breaks or sticks, you just reach under the hood and pull the cable to release the latch. Of course you want to make sure that no one can see the wire or knows about it. Just an idea........

Open and running

Hood is open battery is charged and car is running, thanks for the quick replies and solutions, as usual this is the best place to get ANY info.
