Okay, I know I should know this, and I know I should be able to figure this out, but hey, I'm getting old so please humor me and help me out.

My wife has an '87, I have a '91. Looking through the option codes I see that her '87 has a Performance Axle Ratio, 3.07:1 (G92 Code) while my '91 has the 2.73 Rear Axle Ratio (GU2 Code). I know one ratio should be better off the line, one better on top end, but I can't seem to figure out which (in my head, anyway). Could someone clear this up for me, please?

Of the 2 gears listed, the 3.07 is the "lower gear" - higher numeric that will give faster acceleration but lower top end than a "higher gear" lower numeric like your 2.73. The situation is different with overdrive transmissions that it was with 1:1 drive ratios BO (before overdrive). I think you won't be able to hit redline with the 2.73 (and maybe not even with the 3.07) in 6th gear. You'll probably get a higher top end in 5th gear than 6th. I'm sure the 6 speed guys will come in on this.
:w

ps I'm editing this - I'm answering this as if you have a manual trans.

You got in before I did my edit. With auto's., the 3.07 should be a "tad" quicker off the line - all things being equal, but you have to look at the overall ratios. With the 2.73, 1st gear ratio in the trans may be different than 1st gear ratio in the 3.07. Top speed? They both should be good cruisers.:w

I would suggest a late night super secret differential swap...

(if she doesn't know she's got the 3.07's yet) :Roll

good luck on the antenna. I know how annoying that thing gets when it gets stuck.
