After many months of personal emergencies, family emergencies, house plumbing emergencies and all the holidays, I'm finally back to work on the Vette. What a relief. :Twist

For those who asked (and those who didn't ;) ), here's where I am today:

Started with this:

After cutting to back half off, welding a new one on, grinding everything smooth, (I think I now own every size wire wheel and wire brush know to man) prime and paint, rebuilt trailing arms from Bairs, new rear spring, replacing every rubber part both front and rear, new brake and fuel lines, new brakes and all new brake hardware, I think the rolling frame is finally done.

Engine refresh in progress now:

What fun.....:beer

Nice...

Looking good Subfixer. Where did you find the "back half" of the frame to weld on to the good half? Was this a used piece or an aftermarket find?

I think you'll find the engine work faster and cleaner than that frame repair. Looks like you are making good progress to a Spring rollout. :upthumbs

Glad to see your back at it there Sub Boy.......But...Ahhhh.. How about that funky looking Gas Tank.... Maybe you should replace it now before it starts poping pin hole leaks.....

Subfixer,

When I was in the midst of my project, I'd hear guys saying, "It was a letdown when it was done." I thought they must be :crazy

I'm beginning to understand now. I'm definitely getting my hands dirty again soon.

Good progress on your car! :beer

What process are you using to paint the motor, spray can stuff? I used did a mustang years ago that I did the motor with a eastwood product and it was an entire procedure including how you prepped the motor for paint, anyways I see the car now and then and the product is holding up perfect! it looks as though it was just painted

Thanks to all.. And to think this all started with a loose trailing arm.... While I was at it.....

RodsandRides.. Back half is a new unit from Vette Products of Michigan http://www.vetteproducts.net/

Mark... Gas tank has been replaced before. Just a little stained. Very clean inside. Shouldn't be a problem. You'll also notice I finally cleaned the garage.

Bob... I just want to drive..... The snow should be gone by the time I'm done this year. I always have my truck to play with if I get antsy.

Larry.. Thanks. Good luck with the 62. You are making incredible progress. The engine paint will be whatever will stay on and not burn off (it's still going to be my daily driver for most of the year). I'm going to use all those wire wheels I have to make sure it's real clean before I start spraying.

Check out the eastwoods product I was shocked how well it stood up.

Good to see you back in action subfixer. Once you get warmed up I'm sure you'll make good progress. Funny how life likes to get in the way of a good Corvette project. :)

Larry, I'll check eastwood.

Studiog, hope to see you in Carlisle. You look like you'll make it as long as life doesn't get in your way.
