Until last night, the 502 would drip down quite a little puddle of engine oil from the rear of the pan after just a few minutes of running.

You may remember that we switched to a Moroso 6-quart (U.S. :D) kick-out pan which, frankly, didn't fit too well from the beginning.

After convincing it to fit (dremmel; ball peen at the front corners) I figured -- problem solved. It wasn't. Although the rear appeared to fit properly, it leaked down in just an hour or so after running.

With the able assistance of Fuelie and Z28Canuck (thanks), we got the center link out of the way, the pan drained and dropped, and a new gasket and silicone sealant installed last night.

After my 20-minute drive today, NO LEAKS! :Twist Lesson learned "again". High-heat silicone in the tube the first time.

Now, I realize that you're all blasé about driving these wonderful old cars around the streets, but remember, it's been many, many years since I've had ol' 67HEAVEN out.

The reaction from the populace during my drive today was priceless. :J

Gheez, Bob,

With a 20 minute drive you could have come to my place to drive my neighbours wild for a while:D

Glad that there is no leak:cool

Have fun,
Brian

Just wait till you get to put your foot into it and show them what the ol girl can do.

Thats when youll see a PRICELESS reaction from the on lookers

Or better yet get beside a C5 (now remember I have one at home and love it) and you pull away from them like there standing still.Thats the best way to get them to wave to you next time.

I know you drove this car 20 some years ago,

But nowadays Bob there is not much thats going to beat you.

Fuelie,

The Mrs. came home early with a migraine, but went for the ride anyway. Now, keeping in mind the noise level....and her throbbing head....I didn't go too far from home-base in case she started to :hb

Next stop........front and rear alignment. I'll take JohnZ's alignment numbers and the Vette Brakes info along with me. When the alignment expert gets under there and starts looking for coil springs, I'm going to need some facts to calm him down. ;LOL

Larry,

I'm not taking the new cars for granted. But, one big advantage of the noise level, though, is they'll likely send their tires up in smoke before they realize they can't hear their own car. ;LOL

Snuck out for a fill-up of Sunoco 94 this afternoon.

Got her all the way up into 5th. Even while put-putting along at 45mph in 5th, the slightest squeeze on the loud pedal and Heaven wants to boogey. :gap

Reaching the end of the first 500 miles is going to be so :cool

Fuelie,

I like that photo. First time I've seen it.
Bob,

I took it when you and Z28Canuck took off for the first spin in the car.:cool

Both of your smiles are as big as the windshield:D

I didn't post it before as I just got my photo editing software on my laptop.

Once you get the first 500 miles out of the way..........you will have to come over and we will drag this out to the street and shake up the neighbours :D

Thanks Mac,

I was sitting on the road thinking I would either get a pic with black marks following the rear tires.....or if I didn't move fast enough...the bottom of the oil pan;)

So far I think that's the best pic i've seen of the car!
It really shows off those WIDE fenders and how tough of a stance the car has.

The smiles couldn't have been any bigger! Fantastic angle you shot the pic at. Your car looks great in the earlier posting with the two side by side, great to see two wonderful cars together like that. What a treat for the neighbours too!

Once again, and you'll hear it a thousand times more, the car looks truly amazing Bob. We'll never be able to get hold of you come springtime!
Cheers:beer

One hour and 15 minutes. That's what it took to get the front and rear alignment just right.

What a difference!!!!

Gave it a tiny bit more pedal on the way home. :D

Great news!
So did you have it set up reasonably close or was there a lot of adjustment to do? Did you get a picture of the mechanics face when he first walked under 67Heaven? He'll be talking about this mornings job on your car for awhile I'd imagine. Made his day and yours! Glad to hear it is going well. talk to you later. Don't you and Fuelie be "Test driving" it too hard now:nono :L

Doug,
I wasn't even close on the camber. ;LOL

But, it's a small world, after all. :D

As the mechanic first walked up to the car, he said, "Oh, 67HEAVEN.com". I said, "Huh?"

Yep, he knows all about the car and has been following the project online. :crazy

And, here's the really good news. The mechanic has his own midyear project underway. He brought the car home in pieces in the back of a pickup truck. It sounds like he's about half-way through the rebuild of a '64 Corvette coupe.

Needless to say, Fuelie and I made sure we were invited over to his garage to offer whatever minor assistance we could. ;) Yes, we'll report back.

It's a very smaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall world folks!

Was he excited to be working on a legend?

-Mac
