I'm looking at buying a re-built Q-Jet from Vol-Vette Products or buying a new Holley replacement. Any feedback would be appreciated!

I have a 68vert, block is not original. Heads, intake, air system, trans, rear-end are all correct.

Where would someone find the best deal/service?
thanks!

I agree with Mikey- get your Q-jet rebuilt by someone that KNOWS what they are doing and does not use cobbled up parts.

thanks. i did decide to go with the original :)

Yours is the "original" flavor, there is also a later version the "mod Quad."

Some things to check. Fuel inlet threads are fragile. The early Q-Jets had a thin flange which warped easily. A piece of window glass and cigarette papers are an inexpensive way to check for flatness. The carb body is aluminum and the throttle shaft is steel which is harder than aluminum. Over the years, the aluminum bores wear.

The carb shop was a top drawer business who used to sell quality parts. Home I purchased a kit from them in 1980s.

I agree with Mikey- get your Q-jet rebuilt by someone that KNOWS what they are doing and does not use cobbled up parts.

The key is as Tim said someone who knows what they are doing with Q-Jets. I'll add avoid off shore junk parts.
