Sunset Orange Metallic?

I bought the paint at my local Chevy dealer. It was not cheap however. I can't remeber exactly but it seems like $650 a gallon.

What dealership in Jersey? The reason I ask is because I had a real bad run in with a dealer recently who was trying to hawk one of those bronze cars. If its him stay away. The guy and his dealership are a bunch of dirtbags.

No it's here in Vegas, Fairway Chevrolet. The parts dept is great. The sales dept is another story altogether.

Culture, Heritage and Bloodlines

I love this color. I've seen one in person....frickin' awesome. Why didn't I order my C6 in this color. Some might laugh...I was born a Florida State Seminole, I am an FSU alum, my wife is an FSU alum, my Dad is an FSU alum, my Mom is and FSU alum, my wife's parents are FSU alums...

We cannot own anyting orange as it is in direct violation of our culture and heritage! Think about it....Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes, Virginia Cavaliers, Virginia Tech Hokies, Clemson Tigers....what do they have in common...you guessed it ORANGE!

Anyone own or thinking about getting the Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic paint? I have a dealer trying to make me a deal on a car and I am trying to figure out if is because of the color. I haven't seen any on the road in this color and hear the color is discontinued.

The dealer is too far to travel just to see the car. I only want to go them if I am going to but it.

Let me know your opinion.

Anyone that lets something or someone dictate their tastes is woefully insecure. I'm a 4th generation Texas Aggie and my car is an outstanding looking DSOM!

And the comment that this will be the color to regret in years to come? Go back to sleep.

I've had nothing but positives and a helluva lot of head turning with this car.

Ordered it, waited months, DELIGHTED!!!!!

Cashmere interior looks nice too. ;)

Woefully insecure? I guess that is why all of that headturning is so important to you, huh big boy?

Just couldn't go with the good story...you had to s*h*i*t on somebody?

Please allow me to "raise a glass" to more headturning in Texas.

Bah, must have come out sounding more negative than intended.

Get what pleases you Kobe; you pays the money, you gets the votes!

And the headturning I'm doing is presently in Florida lol, not the Lone Star State.

;)

My C6 is Dsom. I bought it in June and am totally satisfied with the color! It has a red tint to it in the evening hours that give it a deep color unlike any I have seen since Ford Majestic color on the 96 Mustangs. I admit the car looks better clean in my opinion but then again how long is your Vette really going to stay dirty !

DSOM vert!

I picked up my C6 about 2 weeks ago. Cashmere interior DSOM with tan vert top. FANTASTIC...every option!

Love it...killer color.

I bought a 2005 coupe today. I had been considering a red car, but my wife found this car on the internet at a local dealer, and it is orange. I just love the color. I traded my daily driver BMW M3 for this car and being that is a used 2005 with 9k miles on it I got a great deal. She sure looks great in my garage next to my red 64 vert. LIFE IS GOOD.

You will like it more everytime you look at it. We got ours on May 2.
We have 9300 miles on it already. Good luck with yours.

Two Tone DSOM

I love my DSOM Z51, procured in December 2004. Although I got compliments on my 2000 magnetic red metalic Z51 C5, I get far more on my C6; most mention that they love the color.

However, I have a question: I had a scratch on the right rear quarter panel (sure would like to know how it got there!) and had it fixed. The Chevy body shop painted it a slightly darker shade and it's definitely noticeable (Carter Chevrolet, Manchester, CT). How closely can I expect a Chevy body shop to match the original color? Should it be so close a match that it is not noticeable at all?

Thanks,

Bob

Yes, any color should be done so good that you cannot tell where the new paint started and where it ended.

Do not settle for less, no matter who does it.

Thanks for the advice. I turned it over to Carter Chevrolet yesterday. The body shop manager, John Nesbit, said he'd take care of it, he will adjust the shade. He seemed to be aware that there had been a problem and said he had meant to talk to me about it. Right. Well, we'll see how it goes. If I'm not happy I'm thinking about black for my next one.
P.S. Why is it they always get my 'vette during great weather and they give it back when it's raining for 2 weeks straight?

C5am--
I just signed papers yesterday ordering a Z06 in Sunset Orange!! Yes, I'm pretty excited... But I haven't seen one in person. The low numbers of orange on the road may be one reason for few people ordering it--they haven't seen the color live and hate to make a big mistake, so they order what they know they will like. My dealer said it is not a bright orange, more rusty, but picks up the sunlight very well. We'll see!

FWIW, I was not impressed by the pictures but I have seen a few in person and it has grown on me. In the sun it looks gorgeous. I think you will really like it.

You will be very happy Gersh. I really love my Sunset Orange C6 and everyones first comment about the car is what a fabulous color it is. I have only seen a few new Z06's on the road and they all seem to be yellow. I promise that you will be thrilled with the color.
